ABOUT

Mathilde K. Richer is a young Montreal-born, up-and-coming circus artist specializing in aerial straps and other aerial apparatuses. Through her practice, she seeks to broaden the possibilities of expression using her body in the hope that it will allow for a more expansive reading of acrobatic language. She tries to push beyond the standards of beauty by intuitively translating energy to gestures.

Her approach leans towards the creation of an intimate, lyrical and eclectic vocabulary rooted in a state of authentic presence through performance, acrobatics, dance and music. In the future, she would like to develop a socially-conscious form of circus that combines performing and visual art forms by incorporating material structures into her movement-based pieces.

She is a graduate of the National Circus School of Montreal since June 2021.
